Hutchinson Island is a very unique, seaside village located on the east coast of Florida, adjoining the Indian River and the Fort Pierce Inlet. The island stretches thinly from just south of Vero Beach clear down to just south of Stuart, Florida. Miles of white sandy beaches border this charming and beautiful community.
St. Lucie County boasts 22 miles of pristine beaches, of which almost 10 miles are protected and will never be built upon. There are many stretches of beachfront where you can walk for miles without seeing a home or condo.
The Fort Pierce Inlet takes you from the quiet waters of the Indian River into the blue-green Atlantic Ocean. The fishing Industry and its local fishermen still play a major role here, adding to the laid back, comfortable and colorful atmosphere. Enjoy days of swimming, surfing, boating, beachcombing, jet skiing, snorkeling and even horseback riding along the ocean!
Arrive between late April and August and witness hundreds sea turtles sunbathing on the shores of the island. In early winter, these same turtles will make their annual migration to the dunes, where they lay their eggs in the hopes that their young will survive the long walk back to the sea in the following spring.
Marvelous restaurants and relaxation await you after a long day in the Florida sun along with pleasant temperatures year-round to enjoy perhaps a quiet stroll along the Atlantic. If boating and fishing is more to your liking, Hutchinson Island offers several annual fishing contests. World Class fishing is a highlight of the area with Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Cobia and Kings swimming right off the coast! If a day at the beach is not for you, try out one or two of the numerous first-rate golf courses close by.
The housing market of Hutchinson Island offers something for everyone from retirement condos, to millionaires' homes with oceanfront views. Condo's can be found from below $100,000 and up, while single family homes are a bit more expensive. High-end oceanfront estate homes are available from approximately $1 Million.
