Welcome to Port St. Lucie

Welcome to Port Saint Lucie, Florida

Port Saint Lucie, Florida, also known as “A City for All Ages,” is located on the East coast of Florida, about 130 miles south of Orlando, 50 miles North of West Palm Beach and about an hour drive East from Lake Okeechobee.

The rapidly expanding community of Port Saint Lucie, Florida was founded only in 1958 and became a city in 1961.  Famous Florida developers caught site of this wondrous area and decided, with great foreshadowing, this would be a place people would love to live.  Around 1970 when the developing slowed down and people started to really move in, the population of Port Saint Lucie was a mere 330 people.  Over the years word got out and in 1996 the population had grown to around 73,000 and in 2005 it was estimated at 131,000!  Clearly, this city has something to offer to everyone.

Begin your exploration of Port Saint Lucie by taking a turn on one of the area golf courses including PGA Golf Club, Sandpiper Golf Club, and Spanish Lakes Golf Village.  Sign up for a class at one of the area recreation centers where all kinds of classes are offered for all ages and abilities.  The New York Mets have their spring training in Port Saint Lucie.  Check them out for an afternoon while they are in town at Thomas J. White Stadium.  Make a quick drive to the beach for some quality Florida sun and beach time, or down to Stuart for extraordinary fishing.

Due to the ever broadening nature of Port Saint Lucie, you can imagine the effect this has had on their real estate market.  Homes are still affordable starting from $145,000 and condominiums starting at $130,000.  The high-end market, mostly on the Indian River, is steady at a range between $1 and $5 million.
